Normandy is a region of beautiful contrasts; it is one of the
greenest and most rural parts of France but also has some of the
longest and finest sandy beaches to be found anywhere. It
owes its name to the Vikings, and they began the creation of the
ancient cities, manor houses and churches that are part of
today's historic attractions.
It is a popular area for outdoor activities; the sea, rivers and
lakes offer fantastic opportunities for water-sports &
fishing, while inland there are forests to explore on foot, bike
or horse-back. The Foret D'Ecouve has hundreds of
kilometres of tracks and bridleways and is just around the
corner from Le Logis.
The Orne valley where
the cottage is located is within the borders of Normandie Maine
Regional Parc - the largest in France - is full of wonderful
green pastures and orchards of apple and pear which give the
regional produce to create the local cuisine, famous for its
cheeses, sauces, cider and calvados.
